Poised to Send, No Matter the Distance

September 22, 2023

Home to over 38 million people and 2.5 million evangelicals, Canada has a rich French influence and church history. The first known missionaries settled near Québec City in 1615 and were later reinforced by the Jesuits a few years later. After the brief period of British rule 1629-32, most of the local priests returned to France, and the Jesuits became the leading denomination. From this, a rich history of catholicism and other high church denominations was woven into Canada's history and is still prevalent today. With an incredibly high ranking on the Legatum Prosperity Index and a high generosity score, Canada is well prepared to send out far more than the 0.1% prayer goal of the Mobilization Index. However, with a far geographic distance from UPGs and not many cultural similarities to share, the Canadian evangelical church will have to face greater geographic and cultural obstacles to reach UPGs than some other nations on our list.

Pray to the Lord of the harvest that he would raise up laborers from Canada and the other 59 countries on the Mobilization Index to take the gospel to the unreached harvest!
