Cote d'Ivoire gained its independence from France in 1960, after which the two countries remained in close relation and on good terms. Cote d'Ivoire housed a large population of french expatriates. The nation began to thrive and quickly became one of the world's largest coffee and cocoa producers! 

Today, Côte d'Ivoire is home to 27,053,629 people and receives 2 million tourists annually! Cote d'Ivoire's evangelical population is small compared to the Catholic, Islamic, and ethnoreligious churches in the nation. However, there are tremendous opportunities for Christians to take the gospel to the unreached in their own country and throughout West Africa! Pray that the Lord would raise up a church passionate about taking His gospel to the representatives of every tribe, tongue, and nation that visit their country annually. 

The Islamic population in Cote d'Ivoire is growing quickly, as it is across the West African region. Pray for Ivorians who are passionate about taking the gospel to West Africa, where many unreached people live. As the Ivorian church is mobilized, the country will have great potential for mission efforts throughout the entire region of West Africa!
