An Eastern Orthodox stronghold with growing population of evangelicals.

September 22, 2023

Romania is one of the world's most Christianized nations by percentage with 97% of the population identifying as Christian. Of those 97%, most are Eastern Orthodox and roughly 5% identify as protestant evangelicals. The evangelical church of Romania formed in the early 1900s and grew significantly in the 1950s during the time of the communist regime. Completely supported by member donations and not state funds, the evangelical church had nearly 55,000 members and over 400 churches. Today, the Romanian evangelical church has 1.2 million members and more than one thousand churches! Praise God for the growth that the Romanian evangelical church has experienced. Ask that He would continue to grow the church.

As religiously free nation, Romanians can now practice religion as they see fit.
Culturally close to 80 million unreached Muslims, Romanian evangelicals have incredible access to the unreached both in and out of country. With a stable economy and moderate sending potential, Romania's mobilization potential is ranked at Moderate.
